POSTGRAD ART PRIZE

Submission Guidelines and Requirements

The APS Postgrad Art Prize Ceremony will be held at the APS Postgrad Ball in September 2025, with finalists' artworks professionally printed and displayed at the Ball.

The APS Postgrad Art Prize celebrates the creativity and artistic expression of postgraduate students, providing a platform to showcase their talents beyond academia. Art has the power to inspire, challenge, and connect communities, and this prize recognises the unique perspectives that postgraduate students bring to the creative landscape. By displaying the finalists' work at the APS Postgrad Ball, the competition highlights the intersection of art and scholarship, fostering a vibrant and inclusive cultural environment. The $1000 prize not only rewards artistic excellence but also supports emerging artists in their creative journey.

📌 Submission Guidelines:

  • Digital submissions only (photo of 2D/3D artwork)

  • Min. size: 1190 x 1683 px (A2: 420 x 594 mm)

  • Quality: 300 dpi, Formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG (Max 10MB)

  • Artist statement: Max 170 words

Postgrad Art Prize 2025 - Terms and Conditions

By entering the APS Postgrad Art Prize 2025, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Eligibility

  • Open to currently enrolled University of Queensland postgraduate students only.

  • APS staff (including casual student staff), Board members, Representatives, and Faculty Council members are ineligible.

2. Entry Limit

  • Each student may submit one entry only using their UQ student email address.

3. Submission Period

  • Entries open February 1st, 2025, and close September 5th, 2025.

  • Late or misdirected entries will not be accepted.

4. Artwork Requirements

  • Entrants must confirm they are the sole creators of their work, produced in 2025.

  • Only original, non-AI-generated, still artworks suitable for printing on paper are allowed.

  • Video entries, QR codes, stock images, or clip art will result in disqualification.

5. Collaboration

  • Collaborative entries are allowed, but all contributors must be UQ postgraduate students.

  • If selected, one free ticket to the ceremony will be provided per artwork, plus one guest ticket (total two tickets).

6. Selection Process

  • All submissions undergo pre-judging by a panel to determine finalists.

  • Only selected finalists proceed to the final judging phase.

  • Panel decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

7. Authenticity & Verification

  • Entrants may be asked to provide proof of authorship.

  • Failure to verify authenticity may result in disqualification.

8. Communication Responsibility

  • Entrants must regularly check their email (including spam folders) for competition updates.

  • Failure to respond to requests may lead to ineligibility for prizes or exhibition removal.

9. Judging & Final Decision

  • The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

10. Content Guidelines

  • Entries that are offensive or inconsistent with APS values will be rejected.

11. Copyright & Usage Rights

  • Entrants retain copyright over their artwork.

  • By entering, participants grant APS a non-exclusive, perpetual license to display and promote their work (or parts of it) on APS platforms and media for non-commercial purposes.

12. Sales Program (Optional)

  • Artists may list their artwork for sale, with all negotiations handled independently by the artist.

  • APS is not responsible for transactions and accepts no liability for disputes or damages.

  • Entrants agree to indemnify APS from any claims related to sales.

13. Disqualification

  • APS reserves the right to exclude entries or withdraw prizes if entrants fail to meet requirements or breach these terms.

14. Prize Eligibility

  • Winners must attend the ceremony (or nominate an APS-approved delegate) to receive prizes.

  • Each finalist receives one ticket for themselves and one additional guest ticket to the Award Ceremony.
