APS HISTORY
The Association of Postgraduate Students is the peak student representative organisation for postgraduate students at UQ – simple enough. Founded in 2011 to unite the variety of postgraduate clubs, societies and informal groups exist around UQ, APS exists to encourage a postgraduate community, promote postgraduate wellbeing and provide a voice for postgraduate students at UQ.
On Wednesday 18 May 2011, the UQ Association of Postgraduate Students was formed, to provide UQ postgraduate students with a central organisation to administer postgraduate governance issues (appoint representatives to central committees, communicate between postgraduates in different schools, and convey issues and concerns to the university).
At midday on Tuesday 7 June 2011, the inaugural Annual General Meeting of the UQ Association of Postgraduate Students was held for the purpose of electing an executive (consisting of Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer) for the association.
